Abstract: Institutions globally are allocating considerable financial resources to adapt to the evolving technological landscape by upgrading their IT infrastructure. Increased IT usage will also mean an increased need for cybersecurity. Unfortunately, each IT security solution vendor follows their solution with no well-established and well-accepted standards. DP World Tour is the protagonist in this case. DP World Tour is a Dubai-based European golf tournament brand. Established in 2009, the DP World Tour finished the fourteenth edition of the golf competitions in 2022. This secondary case explains the dilemma faced by the golfing brand in ensuring cybersecurity for its sporting tournaments and protecting its digital assets. The case focuses on how tour organizers harnessed Fortinet Security Fabric, a Cybersecurity Mesh Platform, to accelerate digital transformation through the convergence of networking and security. The Cyber Security Mesh Architecture (CSMA) is an IT security architectural approach proposed by Gartner. It promotes interoperability between individual security products and improves the overall security effectiveness, which individual technology vendors struggle to fill in. The case helps organizations struggling to enable automatic and predictive security decisions to counter cybersecurity threats.
